What we collect
To write a letter we use what you type: your child's name or nickname, an age range (4–6 or 7–9), small achievements, interests, what Santa should encourage, and a tone. For treasure hunts we also store the hiding spots you pick. We do not ask for a birth date, school, address, photos or your child's email.
If you buy, we store your email address (to verify it with a one-time code and to find your orders) and order records. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store card numbers.
How we use it
Only to create, show, edit and deliver your letters, certificates, envelopes, clue cards and setup sheets, and to support your order. We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or train AI models on it.
Free letters may be polished by an AI text service that receives only the details listed above to write the letter. We do not instruct it to keep the data, and we choose providers that do not use API data for training.
How long we keep it
Free drafts live in your own browser for 24 hours and are not kept on our servers after the letter is generated.
Paid content (names, letter text, hunt routes) stays online for 90 days after payment so you can edit and re-download. After that it is deleted from our servers; we keep only the minimum order and payment records that tax and accounting rules require. Files you downloaded stay with you.
Children
Letters & Clues is used by parents and caregivers. Children should not use the site on their own or enter information themselves.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your order content early or to export what we hold. Email support@lettersandclues.com (see the Contact page).
